Crimson Lullaby

Picture of Clement Lacroix

Clement Lacroix

A muse adorned in scarlet robes

sings to me a crimson lullaby,

lyrics cradle my weary soul

as I drift to silent sleep.

Delicate hands finesse the cords of my heart,

a harp of flesh and muscle,

each strum a little sharper

as blood runs off its strings.

Sirens wander an endless mindscape,

beckoning to sailing worry,

song, a thief of strife and woe

as fear sinks to gentle sleep.

stillness drowns alveoli

as words suffocate in silent regard,

breath daring not to trespass

upon the drifting rivers of melody.

A ruse adored by scarlet rose

Stings me softly as I cry

Here it’s made what’s broken whole

As I drift

to

silent
