Who, What, Where, When, Why, How…. – Anna Chang
Who:
Who stayed behind
After all the others left,
Their mouths never opened
For a word.
But in their eyes they said
Enough
Yet, the silence
Waited for more…
What
What was something
We lost-
Whether now, or then, in a moment before-
But never knew.
Did we know what it was like to
Even possess it?
Or is it like a dream that we forget
when we wake.
Perhaps not.
Yet, though without a label
We held it in our hand
Over our hearts
Where
Where do grief and longing go to die
When the time for them comes?
Is it hidden in the worn out
Sleeves of a cardigan
You forgot to fold
Last summer?
Or hidden in a cabinet
Amongst old letters and notes
Of what could have been…
When
When did we all
Start to become stories?
Start to question whether we
Lived to dream
Or
Dreamed to live?
For something more
Than what we knew
Was it after the first rising of the Sun
Or the last setting of the Moon
Why
Why are we God’s punishment for
Adam and Eve?
For when the Forbidden fruit of Eden
Was to be written down as The Original Sin
It was to be the First.
Why is it to be man and woman who suffer for their sins?
Why are we punished for Eve’s sin and disloyalty?
Eve’s sin of allowing Greed to present itself to her, and let it convince her
To fall for the gilded surface of desire
Eve’s sin of allowing herself to be tricked by a viper, disguised as a simple garden snake.
How
How do the moments
Of our mind pass so quickly,
To slip out of our reach and grasp
And fade away.
Will our moments be lent to someone else?
Only to circle back, apologize,
and leave once again.
After all, they never meant to leave,
It just never knew how to stay
How will the world continue to turn
After we’ve stopped noticing the spin
The End
The End.
So near, so far.
The moments you’ve taken to read this text,
The Who, What, Where, When, Why, How…
Those moments are gone too…
However, in the one moment that hasn’t flown away,
We go back to the beginning of it all…
Go back to the beginning of the cycle…
And we wonder…
Who?
